The San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade has proven to be a fantastic event that draws hundreds Central Park and various other viewing stations along the beach in downtown San Pedro. The Seventh Annual Boat Parade that kick starts the holiday season celebrations on Ambergris Caye took place on Saturday, December 8, 2012, as saw newcomer El Secreto Resort taking the top boat prize this year.

Mystic River is the scene for the 10th annual Holiday boat parade. Boats decked in lights and good holiday cheer thrilled a crowd of hundreds who lined both sides of the river to kick off the holiday season. MYS-TV Studios was on hand to capture the flavor of this annual event sponsored by Thames Valley Communications and the Mystic Chamber of Commerce.

balian mansion

This 1922 Mediterranean-style mansion is owned by ice-cream magnate George Balian. Located at the fork of Mendocino Lane and Glenview Terrace in Altadena, CA, it sits majestically aglow with thousands of lights, drawing busloads of visitors, pushcart vendors and strolling carolers.

For many, many years the Balian family has decorated their mansion and the 3.5 acre of land that surrounds it. In fact, they started the lighting display back in 1955!

The family started with 10,000 colored lights and now the 10,000 lights cover just the front walkway alone. There are many scenes like Santa Claus with his reindeer, elves, a nativity scene, and many others.

For weeks before and after Christmas, people park and join the throngs enjoying the sights.
