The lady, the book and me

Please be quiet..

A foreigner standing next to me requested to all audience at the sunset terrace outside ball room of Inya Lake Hotel once Daw Aung San Su Kyi started her conversation with U Thaw Kaung inside ball room.
Yesterday I was browsing some books at Irrawaddy Literary Festival in Inya Lake Hotel. This, the first ever international literary festival in Burma is included the best local authors and a rich mixture of international writers. When I saw the program, I was delighted as Daw Aung San Su Kyi will take part in afternoon session.
As this was a fortunate event, I was the one queuing at the entrance of ball room among hundreds of local and international participants in different colors and ages to listen her speech. Unfortunately the ball room was full and hundreds of enthusiasts stranded outside.
So, all of us were waiting at the sunset terrace that she will give a speech after conversation in the ball room.
Here, what I see, all audience were quietly listening her speech and some foreigners, not journalist, were taking a note of every single word she gave.
Yes, I must say, who know the value of her words, take them as valuable property. Indeed, Daw Aung San Su Kyi is a true leader not only of Burma but the world.
The festival patron, Daw Aung San Su Kyi says, “ this festival, which brings together some of the finest talent from Burma, the UK and elsewhere will encourage more people to explore the world of literature”.
She said “You won’t get everything and anything from nothing”. “Read whatever you like and enjoy your reading”.

I bought a book of the lady and the peacock ( the life of Aung San Su Kyi of Burma ) written by Peter Popham.
Ah..one of my dreams is if I ever own a painting of artist Min Wae Aung. When I find the book and the collected prints of his paintings, I feel like I found a treasure. But still I am hesitating to spend USD 32 worth of book. Can’t afford either.

She gave a powerful speech in English and in Burmese as well. All the meaningful words gushed out from her mouth. Her powerful speech distinguished her from any leaders in Burma and every single word inspired us with much confidence. She had taken all the audience’s hearts on that day.

Dear Maung Pae..thanks indeed for your comment. However, I do not understand the meaning of “windtalker”. My post is just my diary. In her talk show, Daw Aung San Su Kyi encouraged more people to explore the world of literature. She did not say anything about politic.
I was so impressed that most of foreigners, not a single Burmese including me, were taking a note of her speech. Like I said, those who know the value of her word will take it as a valuable property.
My apology for Mr. MarGa that I do not know how to type Burmese font.
Thanks for all who read my post and enjoy your reading.
