KATHMANDU, May 22 (Xinhua) — Jordan Romero, a 13-year-old American boy has broken the record by Nepali boy Temba Tsheri Sherpa to be the youngest climber of Mt. Qomolangma (Everest) Saturday.

“Their dreams have now come true. Everyone sounded unbelievably happy. They also thanked everyone who supported them and encouraged them throughout their journey,” a new statement on Jordan’s blog said.

According to website nepalnews.com, Jordan climbed Everest with his father, his father’s girlfriend and three Sherpa guides. He left for the peak from the base camp on the Chinese side after Nepali government denied him permission on age ground.

Temba Tsheri Sherpa conquered Everest on the age of 16 in 2001.
