    @realDonaldTrump
There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!

Bloomberg donates record $1.8B to Johns Hopkins
    By Cristina Alesci, CNN

Updated 5:18 PM ET, Sun November 18, 2018
(CNN)Michael Bloomberg, the former New York mayor who is weighing a 2020 presidential run, is donating $1.8 billion to his alma mater, Johns Hopkins.

The university and Bloomberg are calling it the biggest contribution to an academic institution in American history, according to a press release — and the gift’s record-setting size will not be lost on possible challengers in a Democratic primary. Last week, Bloomberg said he plans to decide on a 2020 bid no later than February, a spokesperson confirmed to CNN

America first: Trump defiantly said he would not blame Mohammed bin Salman for Jamal Khashoggi’s murder because he did not want to ‘break with Saudi Arabia.

America First! Defiant Trump posts simple two-word tweet after refusing to sanction Saudi Arabia and its crown prince over Jamal Khashoggi’s death, insisting he will not risk losing ‘hundreds of billions of dollars to Russia and China’
Donald Trump says he is putting ‘America first’ as he responds to murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi
He is refusing to blame Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler who the CIA have concluded ordered the torture and murder of the journalist
Statement and directly ignores that CIA’s findings
On the White House lawn as he left for Mar-a-Lago he doubled down on an exclamation-point filled statement on why he would not sanction the country
He later took to Twitter tweeting ‘America First!’
He claimed that Russia and China would take Saudi military orders secured by the U.S. and that oil prices would soar
‘I’m not going to destroy the world economy, and I’m not going to destroy the economy for our country by being foolish with Saudi Arabia,’ he said
Statement seems to shore up bin Salman – known as MBS – who is a close ally of Jared Kushner but some of whose own family members want him deposed
But Republican senator Rand Paul says he has the votes in the Senate to force through sanctions and said U.S. arms sale are not a jobs program

Major Trump administration climate report says damage is ‘intensifying across the country’
Scientists are more certain than ever that climate change is already affecting the United States — and that it is going to be very expensive.
    November 23
The federal government on Friday released a long-awaited report with an unmistakable message: The effects of climate change, including deadly wildfires, increasingly debilitating hurricanes and heat waves, are already battering the United States, and the danger of more such catastrophes is worsening.

The report’s authors, who represent numerous federal agencies, say they are more certain than ever that climate change poses a severe threat to Americans’ health and pocketbooks, as well as to the country’s infrastructure and natural resources. And while it avoids policy recommendations, the report’s sense of urgency and alarm stands in stark contrast to the lack of any apparent plan from President Trump to tackle the problems, which, according to the government he runs, are increasingly dire.

Trump Floats Idea of Government-Run Global Network to Rival CNN International
    Variety
    Ted Johnson
    VarietyNovember 26, 2018

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump suggested that the government would launch a network to rival CNN International, as a way “to show the world the way we really are, great!”

Trump broached the idea in an afternoon tweet that again attacked CNN, this time its highly successful global network.

“While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the U.S. they have very little competition. Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair….and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”

A wasp seated himself upon the head of a Snake and, striking him unceasingly with his stings, wounded him to death. The Snake, being in great torment and not knowing how to rid himself of his enemy, saw a wagon heavily laden with wood, and went and purposely placed his head under the wheels, saying, “At least my enemy and I shall perish together.”

By Bard Wilkinson and Yoonjung Seo, CNN

Updated 1:31 AM ET, Thu November 22, 2018
Seoul, South Korea (CNN)South Korea has shut down its largest dog slaughterhouse in a move hailed by animal rights campaigners as a major blow against the country’s canine meat trade.

Seongnam City council, Gyeonggi province, closed Taepyeong where hundreds of thousands of dogs were killed each year by electrocution before their remains were sold for meat, according to Humane Society International (HSI).
“We have been making constant efforts to shut down the Taepyeong-dong dog slaughterhouse through investigations and putting pressure on Gyeonggi province and Seongnam-si,” said Hyunji Kim of Korea Animal Rights Advocates.

UN agencies raise alarm over weakened fight against hunger and malnutrition in Asia and the Pacific

World’s biggest region at serious risk of missing 2030 targets to end all forms of malnutrition—from hunger to obesity

    02/11/2018 Bangkok, Thailand

Four specialized agencies of the United Nations today warned of a colossal human loss to Asia and the Pacific and its economies if countries in the region do not recommit themselves to ending all forms of malnutrition and achieving zero hunger by 2030.
The Asia and Pacific region accounts for well over half of the world’s undernourished – nearly half a billion people (486 million). While recently released global figures indicate an overall rise in the prevalence of hunger worldwide, returning to levels from a decade ago, this regional report points out that stagnation in combating hunger and malnutrition in Asia and the Pacific is also a major concern due to the large numbers of people involved.
