“Foreign resident” and Zoe have given some more info. In spite of these, most viewers have concluded that

Passengers have been buried with the train carriages WITHOUT some rescue efforts. Some injured passengers might still be alive.

Naturally, they say these actions are inhumane and cruel.

HOWEVER, ARE THESE TRUE?

LET’S FIND OUT!

See for your yourself, See some other media, including western media. The pictures are worth a thousand words.

“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”

Some Japanese have an ulterior motive. They fear a rising China.

The Japanese have copied from the West and have improved on them. The Chinese did likewise.

In fact, the West have copied and improved on Chinese and Arabian inventions before. Things like paper, printing, compass, gunpowder, tea, ice cream, silk, soap, numerals, …

For bullet trains, the Japanese and Europeans were in the forefront. They partnered with China to manufacture them in China.  Shared knowledge in exchange for the lucrative China market. Boeing did the same with aircraft. Japanese train maker and car maker Toyota had to follow this arrangement when the Germans and French got into the Chinese train and car market. Otherwise, they would be left out from this huge market.

China is now competing with Japan to sell bullet trains to the world, including USA.  As per the agreement, that’s globalization and competition. Nobody gets to have a monopoly forever. The Japanese have a motive to use this train incident to disparage the Chinese competition on safety and so on.

They also have a dispute with China regarding an island. A good opportunity to vilify China.

The Japanese source quoted may not be 100 % accurate.

Presented below are some other Japanese and western sources. “Burying people without some prior rescue efforts” IS FACTUALLY INCORRECT.

Prior Rescue efforts were made, though some people would prefer these efforts to go on for a longer period of time.

Notice the numerous rescue workers dressed in orange and red uniforms as compared to the number of carriages. From morning, they continued working through the night with flood lights.

China premier orders probe into deadly train crash

BEIJING (AP) — Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Wednesday ordered a sweeping and transparent probe into the weekend collision between two bullet trains that killed at least 39 people and raised public anger about the government’s handling of the accident.

Facts must be uncovered, responsible parties held to account, and investigation results made public, Wen told a cabinet meeting, according to a news release posted to the government’s official website.

Six carriages derailed and four fell about 65 to 100 feet (20 to 30 meters) from a viaduct Saturday night after one train plowed into the back of a stalled train. More than 190 people were injured. The government on Tuesday ordered a two-month safety campaign for its railway system amid questions about how the crash occurred. (20 images)

    Dear Pare Byoke,
I think the only problem is
Some villagers cannot read English &
on the other hand, I don’t know how to write Myanmar Font. 🙁

      Same boat! Unfortunately.

However, we did whatever we can, as volunteers or villagers. (The search, selection, compilation, and the pictures took quite some time, already. Quite a big project!).

Well, a consolation: “A picture is worth a thousand words!” All those pictures and videos tell quite a story in a relatively short time. In my opinion, they are better than writing long essays in Burmese. They help offset and overcome the inability to write in Burmese fonts.

The viewers, too, have a duty to try and learn English or get some friends or relatives to translate.
Burmese news weekly and journalists in Burma, should also do their part to update viewers with world news.

I think some villagers should go and bug those journalists in Burma for more details. I am sure that they will respond if there is an audience.

Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, like Foreign Resident, I don’t know how to write Myanmar Font. Most of my time were taken up with gathering info and pictures for a good quality posting for viewers.

I see that you have some English knowledge. You can use an English-Burmese dictionary to simultaneously build up your English. Also, you can ask somebody to help you with any translation.

Maybe, just look at the pictures and compare them to Yuki’s posting’s comments. That would be good enough. You can then form your own opinion and see the true situation. You need not rely on anybody’s comments, including mine.

Your judgement would be the best!

BTW, why not ask your local news weekly to publish something? These incidents can be good lessons for Myanmar viewers and Myanmar leaders. We can learn from others. They remind us on how to treat one another and Myanmar people with love and compassion, especially during emergencies like Nargis.

I think the information PareByoke would like to give to MG and villagers is that
    1.the information in post ” ကိုတရုတ်တို့ ရက်စက်ပုံများတော့…. ” is not really true .
    2. we should know the true and correct information from the real world ?
As far as I learned when there was the last earthquake in China maybe 2008-9 . Chiese Minister came to give media very soon after being earthquake there at border . So , One of the economists – Dr . Myint pointed out and appreciated that behaviour in his seminar at IBC in 2010 August .
Maybe Chinese had bad behaviours before as what the post ” ကိုတရုတ်တို့ ရက်စက်ပုံများတော့…. “presented . However , it might not be true and correct presently .
Thank you for picture information – PareByoke

    Ko Shwe Ni

    Correct!

Thanks for your input re: Dr. Myint’s advice. He gave a good example to our younger generation. Officials’ ethical and moral conduct and behavior are very important for any country.

    Modern concepts: Accountability and transparency

Ancient concepts: Elders’ Responsibilities/Lu Gyi Wut, Rule with Benevolence, Buddha’s “Ten Rules for Kings (& Administrators, officials)”/”Min Kyint Tayar htsay par”

    all come to mind.

China’s State Council orders safety checks on high-speed rails, slower running speeds

    http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/china/2011-08/10/c_131041406.htm

BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) — The State Council, or the Cabinet, on Wednesday ordered safety checks on high-speed railways and slower running speeds.

The decision was made at an executive meeting of the State Council, which was presided over by Premier Wen Jiabao, in the wake of a deadly bullet train crash that killed 40 people.

The safety checks cover high-speed railways that are both in operation and under construction, said a statement released after the meeting.

The State Administration of Work Safety will lead the inspection on equipment quality, operation safety, and design and quality of rails under construction, the statement said.

The statement also ordered newly-built high-speed rails to run at slower speeds during the initial stages for safety and improvement in techniques and management.

The government will reevaluate the system safety on rail projects that have received government approval but have not commenced construction, the statement said, requiring a halt of approval of new railway projects.
