Ex-Buddhist priest stole ¥150 million | The Japan Times Online
NOTE: THOUGH THE MONK WAS DEFROCKED AND NO LONGER A MONK, HE WAS STILL ARRESTED FOR THE CHARGE.
THIS SORT OF THING USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE COMMUNITY IS LAX, TRUSTING, AND NAIVE.
MOREOVER, THE BAD PRIEST AND HIS LACKEYS WOULD HAVE BRAINWASHED THE TRUSTEES INTO BLINDLY OBEYING HIM, WITHOUT QUESTION.
THEY WOULD TREAT ANY QUESTION AS A MARK OF DISRESPECT AND WOULD GO INTO A RAGE.
THEY WON’T ISSUE ANY MONEY REPORTS, EVEN AFTER SEVERAL REQUESTS.
HOWEVER, THEY WOULD KEEP ON DOING MONEY SPINNERS LIKE “FOOD FAIRS/NIBBAN ZAYS,” IMPORTING MORE “STATUES,” DOING MORE “PROJECTS,” IRRESPECTIVE OF THE REAL NEED FOR THEM OR NOT, AND ALSO IRRESPECTIVE OF THE DANGERS AND RISKS TO THE TEMPLE.
MEANWHILE, THEY WOULD ALWAYS BE REQUESTING BIG DONATIONS AND FREE LABOR FROM THE “KUTHO/MERIT HUNGRY” DONORS.

KYOTO (Kyodo) Police arrested an unfrocked Buddhist priest Thursday on suspicion of embezzling about ¥150 million (about 1.65 million US Dollars) from the Kyoto headquarters of the Jodo Shu sect.
Yoshifumi Kuwao, 52, is suspected of withdrawing the money from the Buddhist faction’s bank account on about 30 occasions from January 2003 to September 2004 and pocketing it while he was in charge of treasury affairs at the headquarters, police said.
Kuwao has owned up to the allegations, they said.
Police sources said Kuwao is believed to have used most of the funds to invest in futures trading.
