Artist Aelita Andre might only be four years old, but that has not stopped her opening her first art exhibition in New York.
She is said to be the youngest ever professional artist with nine of her paintings on show at the Agora Gallery, in Manhatten, already selling, with pieces priced up to $9,900 (£6,000) each.
Angela Di Bello, the director at the gallery, said Aelita had already developed a style of her own.
Her parents, Nikka Kalashnikova and Michael Andre, who are also artists, both agree that their daughter’s art has an innocence to it.

While most kids her age are busy playing with Elmo and Dora, Aelita Andre is spending her time giving Andy Warhol a run for his money.
The 4-year-old Australian girl has become an international art-world sensation, producing a formidable collection of abstract paintings that have sold at shows from Italy to Hong Kong for tens of thousands of dollars and earned her comparisons to the greats, like Jackson Pollock and Pablo Picasso.
Aelita has now come to New York with a show starting today that is expected to set the city’s art world on fire.
“She’s an amazingly talented painter,” said Angela Di Bello, owner of the Agora Gallery in Chelsea, where Aelita’s show will run until June 25. “Her mind works in the way an established artist or an art critic’s would. She is highly intellectual. She just feels everything.”
Some of her works for the show have already sold. An Italian collector bought three paintings — including one called “Asteroid” — for a total of $27,000. Her most expensive work was one sold in Hong Kong for $24,000.
“She’s very excited for her opening . . . She will probably be running around making friends with everyone and singing,” said her mom, Nikka Kalashnikova.
Kalashnikova and daddy Michael Andre admit their daughter’s visit to New York may be turning her into a bit of an art diva.
“We took her to MoMA yesterday, and she was so upset that we were taking her to see other artists’ work instead of going to her own exhibition,” Kalashnikova said.
Aelita’s inspiration ranges from dinosaurs to the solar system.
“I just do this and this and this but with many colors,” she said, waving her hands in circles. “My favorite color is yellow.”

Pablo Picasso once said, ‘It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.’
Little did he know that almost 40 years after he died, a child’s painting would be compared to his masterpieces.
Aelita Andre, from Australia, is only four years old, but already she is commanding up to $24,000 a painting.

She is hoping that her brightly spattered daubs, which have sold for thousands of dollars internationally, will have the same success when her first solo exhibition opens in New York tomorrow.
The Melbourne prodigy’s paintings have already been compared to modern art greats like Jackson Pollock and Pablo Picasso.
The four-year-old’s proud dad Michael Andre said: ‘She chooses the colours herself. She’s so determined, and forceful, and decisive, and she’ll actually get angry if you attempt to suggest a colour.’
On display: Paintings like these will be exhibited in the Agora Gallery in New York until June 25
Her Russian mother Nikka Kalashnikova told news.com.au: ‘If a child is very talented, you have to give them the opportunity.’
Aelita began painting before she could walk at 11-months old and now has her own space to create her artworks, mainly using acrylics on canvas.
Once her parents saw that she had a talent, they submitted her work to a local gallery, prompting the owner to arrange a special exhibition for her, unaware of her tender age – then only two years old.
While most of her paintings now retail for between around $5,000 and $10,000 it was a picture of the Russian Mir space station that set her record price of $24,000 in Hong Kong.
Her parents insist they are not forcing her to paint and that the work should be judged on its artistic merits and not her age and said they hope her success paves the way for other talented children.
Mr Andre said: ‘Aelita had a very, very difficult run. When her work was initially judged, it was purely on the painting itself. Nikka deliberately withheld her age just to see what the reaction was.’
Aelita is showing at the Agora Gallery in New York until June 25.
