“Comrades, I just want to say briefly, we are go ing to the battle field now, we all have to face trouble, starving and difficulties. Show your courageous blood as Burmese. Obey the order of your Commanders. The commanders must have fairness and comradeship. As I promise I am going to march along with you. Knock the enemy of Burma down. Seek and destroy your nearest enemy, that’s all”

27th March 1945

From the speech of Marching to Battle at the Revolutionary Garden

Democracy is the only ideology which is suit able for the Independence. The ideology encourages Peace. Therefore we should aim that ideology. So, I want to explain about that ideology.
By our sight, the leadership of the country must be group leadership rather than personal leadership. The leadership must be under the administration of group desire but not under the personal desire.

August 1945,

at the 4th National Leaders’ Meeting speech

I want to talk to you a little about myself. Cur rently, I am a popular person in public but I am not God, wizard and magician, I am just a human. I am not also an angel and I am able to do like a human. I am so young. I take the whole country’s responsibility in the front. I don’t think myself I have perfect ability to take this responsibility. And everybody knows I have a quick temper. This is my origin. When I am busy or interrupted, I am used to being short-tempered. I will try to amend this as possible as I can. But all of you need to be patient. If I will also be patient, try to recruit more strength of people than today show and you will encourage what we do for you, we can do more on the independence which we want and we can do more on people’s welfare and it will be more effective. Therefore, I want to leave a message to people, please stand patiently.

1946, September
From the White Paper Project Demonstration Speech

We are revolutionary. All of you know about it. But we don’t like the revolution without intention as a blind. What is revolution? By my sight, revolution means not only violent fighting but also changing the old system to the new system. So, revolution is con tinuous. Sometimes the distinct changing of quantity to quality promptly means revolution. Unrest, violence and fighting are the last way that we have anyway to choose. The first fighting anyway is meaningless. There is no one who doesn’t want to get what he wants peace fully. If not, that person is a fool. Moreover, every in telligent person wants to try what he wants peacefully otherwises tries the other way.

18th December 1946
From the Mawlamyine Thanphyuzayap Speech

In politics, a leader has especially more a wide range of view than a follower. The leader is not in be wildered manner who believe in this man and that man, this is not the ability of leader. The leader must dare to say and explain what they believe to people. He must dare to sacrifice his life if needed. If a person is undecided and cannot choose the right way to go clearly, that person is not a leader. A person without self-confidence never trusts other people. As for me, I believe myself. History will decide what is right and what is wrong.
